Program Notes:
The title, Fracture, speaks directly to the rupture of identity and security experienced by an artist in exile. This work is a response to the anxieties fueled by the current political climate, a climate that causes fear for one's very existence. Being caught between worlds, with no clear sanctuary, has ignited a fierce urgency to articulate this dangerous reality. Fracture embodies this duality: the painful yielding to the disorientation and uprootedness, and the inherent resistance found in giving voice to this experience. It is a refusal to remain silent in the face of such profound unease.
Fracture is written based on Dastgah Chahar-gah in Iranian classical music.
